The device

Is JustFed an automatic feeder?

No, on purpose. JustFed never touches the food. You feed your pet the way you always have, and JustFed makes sure everyone in the household knows it’s done. There’s no hopper to jam and no motor to break.

What does the device actually do?

It rests between meals. At feeding time the round touch screen wakes with an animated alert showing your pet, what to give and any medication due, plus a chime. Feed your pet, tap the screen, and the feeding is logged and shared with the whole household. Then it counts down to the next meal.

What happens if nobody responds to the alert?

The reminder escalates: the screen dims to save power and the chime repeats more often. If a feeding still hasn’t been logged after 3 hours, the household is told it was missed.

Can I log a feeding early?

Yes. Hold FEED NOW on the device to log a feeding before the alert fires. You can also log feedings from the app.

What is it built on?

The device is built on the ESP32-S3, with a 1.75-inch 466×466 AMOLED touch display, a speaker, microphone, vibration motor, a real-time clock and a 450 mAh battery. It measures 52 × 52 × 15.5 mm and weighs 39 g.

Battery, charging & mounting

How is it powered and charged?

It has a 450 mAh rechargeable battery and charges over USB-C. Between feedings the screen sleeps so the battery goes a long way. The device warns you when the battery is low. When it’s plugged into USB power, it stays on as a live countdown clock.

How long does the battery last?

We’re still measuring battery life on production hardware and won’t publish a number until it’s tested. It’s designed to sleep between feedings, and you’ll see a low-battery warning well before it runs out. If you’d rather not think about it, leave it plugged in and it becomes a live countdown clock.

Where do I put it?

Anywhere near where you feed. The magnetic back sticks to the fridge or any metal surface, it can sit on a counter or shelf, and there’s a lanyard hole if you want to hang it.

Setup & connectivity

How do I set it up?

Setup takes a few minutes. Plug the device into your computer with its USB-C cable and the JustFed web app walks you through it, or connect over encrypted Bluetooth LE. You give it your Wi-Fi details, and it links to your JustFed account and your pets' schedules.

What Wi-Fi does it need?

A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, which almost every home router provides.

What if my Wi-Fi goes down?

Feedings are saved on the device and sync to JustFed Cloud automatically once Wi-Fi is back, so nothing is lost. The built-in clock keeps the schedule running in the meantime.

Is my data secure?

Setup happens over a USB-C cable or encrypted Bluetooth, and each feeding is sent to JustFed Cloud as a signed, secure request. We never sell your data. See the Trust Center for details.

Pets & households

Does it work with more than one pet?

Yes. The device shows whichever pet is due and what to give them. You can add more devices to one account (one per bowl, room or pet) and everything stays in sync. Multiple pets and devices depend on your cloud plan.

Who gets notified when a pet is fed?

Everyone you share the pet with. They get a text or app notification the moment the screen is tapped, including who fed the pet and when.

Does it track medication?

Yes. Medication doses show on the feeding alert in red, there’s a medications page on the device, and the app keeps a full history and your on-hand stock.
